Phonemic Awareness Foundations
The KMP Routine:
Teach Letter-Sounds With Gestures
Harness the power of kinesthetic learning by engaging students with gestures for each phoneme in the English language.
Phonics in Motion's unique Kinesthetic Motions for the Phonemes (KMPs) set your kids up for success by engaging them in a multisensory routine aimed to make learning letter-sounds a breeze.
These unique physical motions represent every sound in our language and match the articulation and tension of the sounds they represent. The power of gesture in learning means that kids have an extra tool in their kit and make the connections necessary for phonemic awareness faster.
By pairing sound with motion, kids are able to fully immerse their bodies and minds in language, making it easier for them to recognize, hear, read, and write sounds and words.
This Program Develops:
With Phonics in Motion Kids
This program introduces your kiddos to our unique motions for every sound.
The motions set the foundation by developing speech, articulation, and phonemic awareness. The motions are the component of Phonics in Motion that integrates with every other Phonics in Motion routine; supporting learners all the way through third grade.
Designed to Help Young Learners:
The motions get kids using their bodies and make language come to life. Kids can easily recall and utilize the motions throughout their day in authentic language application.
Articulate sounds correctly in speech (the motions provide kinesthetic information about how to produce sounds correctly).
Develop Phonemic Awareness (which is a critical foundational skill for reading and writing).
Stay on task and burn energy! Language learning and reading become active activities that the child can take ownership over.
Differentiate between sounds (so they can later take them apart and put them together when reading and writing).
A parent/teacher guide to the Kinesthetic Motions for Phonemes (KMPs). These are powerful physical motions that enable kids to feel, hear, and articulate sounds correctly.
A full library of videos that demonstrate each KMP, plus training videos to support the adult.
A library of sound cards, downloadables, poems and fun activities to help you keep your kids engaged.
Tips to use the KMPs with different grades and skill levels. We use them with kids as young as 18 months for speech and articulation, and all the way through third grade as the basis for teaching complex spelling patterns.
WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT PIM
I have to use state supported curriculums in my classroom but the programs are so dang boring its almost painful for the kids. PIM has been my saving grace. I am meeting the requirements at my building … but we’re the most fun classroom I could imagine now. Everything has changed for the better. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
As a homeschool parent I needed to find something that would teach me how to teach. PIM quickly helped me to get up to speed and feel confident that I am providing what my kids need. I chose to homeschool for many reasons, but one key reason was that I wanted my kids to get to be kids. PIM is SO much fun; and it has everything I needed to teach early literacy.
I’ve seen PIM develop over my career and have relied on it for my teachers over the years. I’ve brought it to many schools throughout my career, and I see it help teachers to be their best selves, serving learners with engaging and effective literacy instruction time and time again.
