Here's What You Get
In four live meetings, you'll get to know our research aligned routines and the lesson plans to deliver on them with real support
Learn our four unique literacy routines to cover all pillars of early literacy following a structured literacy approach including:
A Comprehensive Approach To Literacy Instruction
We don't just focus on one aspect of literacy development but rather take a 360-degree approach that engages kids' bodies and minds. Our multisensory lessons include visual, auditory, and kinesthetic components.
Our research-based teaching strategy ensures your teachers are delivering on the latest reading science.
The scope and sequence & lesson plans include the motions, poems, animations, and explicit teaching routines to make learning a memorable and enjoyable adventure for kids.
INTEGRATED, EFFICIENT, EXPLICIT, SPIRALING, ENGAGING, EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION.
At Phonics in Motion, we know that Phonemic Awareness is the foundation which all other literacy skills are built upon. While we're built on science, we also know the power of fun.
Our unique motions for every phoneme engage kids while providing teachers with real-time information. Teachers can SEE what students are hearing.
We also know that highly effective language instruction is integrated, not siloed. Our four explicit teaching routines enable educators to effectively teach every pillar of early literacy instruction through authentic language that is meaningful to kids.
The motions engage kids' bodies and minds and act as a phonemic anchor as they develop skills including phonics, fluency, vocabulary, spelling, handwriting, and comprehension.
Lessons teach every skill in a highly integrated, efficient, and effective manner.

The Teaching Approach
We know the power of modeling skills for your kids. Our teaching style enables you to gradually release responsibility. Each routine moves from "I do," to "We do," to "You do." Cognitive work shifts slowly and intentionally from teacher modeling, to joint responsibility between teachers and students, toward independent practice and application by the learner.
With daily modeling of previously taught and upcoming skills, you can support your strugglers and enrich your advanced learners at the same time.
Through every stage, our motions are used to constantly link sounds to print.
Modeling. Repeatedly.
Our explicit routines enable you to model the concepts and skills you're teaching. Our Language Calendar offers a spiraling learning experience that provides continuous modeling.
Shared Practice.
Adults and kids practice concepts and skills together. We want kids to feel supported, safe, and secure. This stage is critical for confidence building.
Guided Practice.
Teachers and parents supervise and support as kids practice. With previous modeling and shared practice, kids feel ready to give it a try.
Independent Practice.
Kids run the show, demonstrating their confidence and competence. Each of our engaging materials and explicit routines has now become a scaffold for kids to rely on.

DEVELOPING READERS AND WRITERS CAN LOOK LIKE THIS
The Four Components of Phonics in Motion
Becoming a PIM teacher means having the tools you need to explicitly teach every component of early literacy, while seamlessly scaffolding and weaving them together.
Wrap that into a delivery strategy that is packed with stories that children giggle over and connect with, and powerful movements and motions that intentionally develop literacy skills and you have a recipe for success.
KMPs
Kinesthetic Motion for Phonemes
The Kinesthetic Motions for the Phonemes (KMPs) are used to teach speech, articulation, and Phonemic Awareness. The KMPs make learning memorable, engaging, and fun for both students and teachers. Teachers can SEE what learners are hearing! Learning how sounds and letters are related is critical to the long-term learning and mastery of reading and writing.
Reading & Writing Monster
Letter ID, Formation & Directionality
The Reading & Writing Monster is a fun-loving character placed on the left of any writing surface. It teaches letter names, and connects sounds and letters. The Monster's stories make learning to write letters easy they direct learners to stroke towards or away from the monster. The KMP (sound) that goes with each letter is embedded in each monster story.
Language Calendar
Modeled Written Language
The Language Calendar is a structure for modeling written language daily and features how letters, sounds, and words work together in the English language. It's where PIM teachers model how we get our thoughts onto paper. Of course, all of the other components are integrated and pulled into the LC. Teachers use the LC to develop state standards for early literacy.
Vowel House
Vowel Sounds & Spellings
The Vowel House is your new home for phonics instruction. Vowel sounds organize the order that we teach phonics, using the KMP motions. The characters who live in each window of the VH teach language rules in a fun way as kids learn the primary and alternate spelling patterns in our language. The VH is a graphic organizer that is used in first graders and beyond. It's your go-to tool for teaching spelling!
